How to Make a Tire Swing She’ll Love

One of the things I love most about our house is our yard and since the rain has finally come and the leaves are finally gone, it’s time to get outside!  Makenna has been asking for a tire swing since we moved in 2 years ago and Brent has finally had time to put it together.

The project only took him a day and that included shopping for supplies.  We used the directions from eHow with a few modifications:

  1. We did not use a primer.  A pint of purple satin did the job in just one coat.  Although I did go back a couple days later and touch it up while it was hanging.
  2. My husband did not chalk out and measure the 3 holes, eyeballing it was enough.
  3. Make sure you drill holes to let the water out on the bottom, but it doesn’t have to be exact.

You can make this tire swing with little skill and very little time.  Since used tires are usually free, the total cost for this project was less than $30, but the best part is how much Makenna loves it!
